Robert Farken finishes ninth in 1500m European Championship final

German runner Robert Farken finished ninth in the 1500 meters at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, failing to meet his stated goal of winning the gold medal. Despite entering the final as a favorite and declaring his intention to win, Farken finished with a time of 3:37.49.

During the race, Farken faced physical contact and jostling, including an initial push at the start and repeated contact with other runners in the final stages. Although he held a strong fourth-place position heading into the final lap, he lacked the strength to maintain his position in the final 300 meters.

The gold medal was won by Stefan Nillessen of the Netherlands with a time of 3:35.70. Samuel Pihlström of Sweden took silver (3:36.16), and Andrew Coscoran of Ireland secured the bronze medal (3:36.24).
