Robert Fico rejects EU migration quotas in student discussion

Prime Minister Robert Fico addressed students in Bánovce nad Bebravou, emphasizing Slovak sovereignty and the nation's right to make independent decisions on fundamental issues. During the discussion, Fico rejected mandatory migration quotas and criticized voting changes that might allow larger states to impose their will on smaller nations.

Fico stated that while Slovakia respects the European Union as a peaceful project, respect does not equate to “blind obedience.” He also touched upon electricity prices, calling for European solidarity in energy costs, and stressed that maintaining peace and security must remain the primary responsibility of the Slovak government.
