Robert Fripp recalls collaborations with David Bowie

Musician Robert Fripp has shared recollections of his professional interactions with David Bowie, specifically regarding recording sessions for the 1977 album ‘Heroes’ and the 1980 album ‘Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)’.

Fripp described the ‘Heroes’ sessions as being characterized by immediacy and improvisation. He also revealed that Bowie had invited him to join his touring band in 1977, an offer Fripp declined because he had recently finished a six-year period of touring and was not looking to return to the road at that time.

Regarding the 1980 album ‘Scary Monsters’, Fripp noted that Bowie suggested he ‘Think Ritchie Blackmore’ when discussing musical direction for his guitar parts.
