Robert Griffin III expresses interest in Baylor head coaching role

Former Heisman Trophy winner and Baylor alumnus Robert Griffin III has expressed a strong interest in becoming the head football coach at Baylor University. Speaking on ‘The Dan Patrick Show’, Griffin stated he is “100 percent” interested in the position following the firing of head coach Dave Aranda.

Aranda was dismissed by athletic director Doug McNamee after a 25-24 loss to Kansas, which left the team with a 4-3 record. During his seven seasons at Baylor, Aranda compiled a 40-40 record, including a Big 12 championship and a Sugar Bowl victory in 2021.

Griffin, who currently serves as a college football analyst for Fox Sports, lacks previous college coaching experience but previously turned down a head coaching opportunity at Sacramento State in December 2024. He played three seasons at Baylor, winning the Heisman Trophy in 2011.
