Robert Habeck discusses politics and authorship at Frankfurt Book Fair

Former Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck spoke at the Frankfurt Book Fair to present his new book, ‘Arctic Meltdown: Die Neuvermessung der Welt’. During his appearance, he reflected on the differences between political life and authorship.

Habeck noted that while politics offers the privilege of influence and power to shape things as one sees fit, it also carries heavy responsibility and public exposure. In contrast, he described being a writer as ‘cool’ because it allows for greater personal freedom and less constraint, though it lacks the ability to directly determine policy.

Addressing the political landscape, Habeck remarked that a position as Chancellor might soon become available. He also expressed a desire to avoid being perceived as a ‘know-it-all’ regarding government matters, despite his continued interest in commenting on global issues like the Arctic.
