Robert Lee Turner sentenced to 30 years for child pornography

Robert Lee Turner, a 64-year-old former educational psychologist for Miami-Dade County Public Schools, has been sentenced to 30 years in state prison for crimes involving child pornography. The sentence also includes five years of probation and a mandatory requirement to register as a sex offender.

The investigation began in August 2024 after Instagram alerted authorities to child sexual abuse material being shared via an account linked to Turner. A subsequent police inspection of his mobile phone uncovered video files featuring minors between the ages of eight and 16. Investigators also found internet chat logs indicating intentions toward minors.

During the trial, Turner’s defense argued that his device had been hacked and his personal data stolen. However, a jury rejected these claims, finding him guilty on eight counts related to the promotion and possession of sexual representations of minors.
