Robert Lewandowski breaks goal drought with Chicago Fire

Robert Lewandowski ended an eight-match scoring drought by scoring and providing an assist in Chicago Fire’s 4:2 victory over the Colorado Rapids. After entering the match as a substitute in the 63rd minute, the 38-year-old striker scored 11 minutes later following a pass from Philip Zinckernagel. He later assisted Puso Dithejane to secure the win.

Chicago Fire coach Gregg Berhalter explained that the decision to start Lewandowski on the bench was a strategic move to manage his workload, noting that the team had played three matches in eight days involving significant travel. The victory helps Chicago Fire consolidate its position in the Eastern Conference as they prepare for the MLS playoffs.

Prior to this performance, Lewandowski had gone 50 days without a club goal, with his last scoring appearance occurring on September 10 against Inter Miami. While his club form had fluctuated, he had maintained scoring momentum on the international stage with Poland.
