Robert Lewandowski rejected €200 million Saudi offer to join Chicago Fire

Agent Pini Zahavi revealed that a Saudi Arabian club offered Robert Lewandowski €100 million per season – roughly €200 million over a two‑year contract – earlier this year. Lewandowski turned down the deal, saying a guaranteed starting place at FC Barcelona mattered more than the money.

After his Barcelona contract expired on 1 July, Lewandowski signed a two‑year deal with MLS side Chicago Fire. He has so far made two league appearances, against Inter Miami and New York City FC, without scoring.

Former Chelsea and Real Madrid midfielder Michael Essien commented that Lewandowski will raise the profile of MLS. The same reports noted that other European clubs, such as FC Porto, AC Milan and Juventus, were approached but no agreement was reached, and that Lionel Messi’s MLS salary remains higher than Lewandowski’s.
