Lewandowski scores twice, wins MLS Player of the Matchday in Chicago debut

Polish striker Robert Lewandowski scored two goals – in the 20th and 68th minutes – as Chicago Fire beat Charlotte FC 2‑1 at Soldier Field. The victory marked his first home appearance for the MLS club and drew over 30,000 spectators. Following the match, MLS named Lewandowski the Player of the Matchday for Matchday 19, his first league honor, and included him in the MLS Team of the Matchday alongside teammate Philip Zinckernagel. The award was the first for a Chicago Fire player since Tom Barlow in 2025. Lewandowski, who joined Chicago Fire in late June after leaving Barcelona, now has 720 career goals for club and country.
