Robert Lewandowski signs for Chicago Fire, Barcelona look for successor
Polish striker Robert Lewandowski has reached a final agreement to join MLS club Chicago Fire on a free transfer after his contract with Barcelona ended. The deal includes a medical exam this week and a contract for two seasons, with the 36‑year‑old aiming to boost a side currently third in the Eastern Conference.
Barcelona, now needing a replacement for Lewandowski, have listed Sweden's Alexander Isak among their targets, noting his strong showing at the 2026 World Cup. The club also considers Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane and Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez, but all three clubs have indicated they are not inclined to sell.
Isak, despite interest, is expected to stay at Liverpool, where he is under a long‑term contract until 2031, making a move unlikely in this window.
