Robert Lewandowski signs with Chicago Fire

Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, 37, has left FC Barcelona and will join Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire as a designated player. The move, confirmed by transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, involves no fee to Barcelona, and Lewandowski is expected to earn roughly $20 million over a two‑year contract, making his salary one of the highest in MLS, behind only Lionel Messi. He will occupy one of the three designated‑player slots that allow clubs to pay salaries above the league cap.

Chicago Fire, currently third in the Eastern Conference, announced Lewandowski as the marquee signing for the upcoming season. The Polish forward highlighted his gratitude to Barcelona in an Instagram post and expressed excitement for a new chapter in the United States.
