Robert Lewandowski joins Chicago Fire as MLS newcomer

Polish striker Robert Lewandowski arrived in Chicago on a LOT flight from Warsaw, checking into the Waldorf Astoria where club representatives welcomed him. Chicago Fire posted a short video of his arrival, which was later removed from X.

The player’s first official appearance with the club is scheduled for Tuesday, 14 July, when he will train with the team and take part in a press conference alongside head coach Gregg Berhalter. The session will be partly open to media, and Lewandowski spoke with the U.S. embassy in Warsaw the day before his departure. Ticket prices for the upcoming match against Vancouver Whitecaps surged after the transfer announcement.

Before moving to MLS, Lewandowski completed a short training stint at Legia Warsaw’s Training Center and finished a four‑year spell at FC Barcelona, where he scored the opening goal in the club’s first match back at Camp Nou. His move marks a high‑profile addition to Major League Soccer and the start of a new chapter in his career.
