Robert Lewandowski's five-goal nine-minute record marks 11 years
The football world marks the 11th anniversary of Robert Lewandowski’s historic performance against VfL Wolfsburg. On September 22, 2015, while playing for Bayern Munich, the Polish striker scored five goals in just nine minutes.
Lewandowski entered the match as a substitute at halftime with his team trailing 0-1. His scoring spree began in the 51st minute and concluded 539 seconds later. Reflecting on the achievement, Lewandowski described feeling as if he were “in a trance,” noting that it took several months for the magnitude of the event to fully sink in.
Then-Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola expressed disbelief at the feat, stating that he had never experienced a similar situation as a player or a coach. The record-breaking performance remains one of the most notable individual achievements in Bundesliga history.
