Robert Pattinson discusses Batman integration and sequel filming

Actor Robert Pattinson has discussed the challenges of integrating his portrayal of Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, into James Gunn’s new DC Universe (DCU). Pattinson noted that the specific tone and dark atmosphere of the Reeves films make it difficult to bridge the character into a different cinematic universe.

Pattinson is currently in London filming the sequel, ‘The Batman 2’. He described the production as a “marathon” and noted that the physical demands of the role, particularly combat scenes, have become more taxing with age. The sequel's development faced several delays, with the script being completed in July 2025 before filming commenced.

Beyond the Batman franchise, Pattinson’s career is characterized by a move away from blockbuster archetypes toward more demanding and unconventional roles, establishing him as a versatile actor capable of transitioning between auteur cinema and major Hollywood productions.
