Robert Pattinson discusses character design for Dune 3

Actor Robert Pattinson has discussed his experience regarding character design for the upcoming film Dune: Part Three. In an interview with Empire, Pattinson revealed that he was initially disappointed with director Denis Villeneuve’s original concept for his character, Scytale.

Scytale is a genetically engineered shape-shifter and antagonist created by the Bene Tleilax faction. Pattinson had hoped for an alien appearance, but the initial direction was for the character to look like a normal human. However, Villeneuve revised the design shortly after filming began. The character will now feature a distinct look characterized by pale skin, bleached hair, and no eyebrows to appear as though he was grown in a lab.

Dune: Part Three, based on Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah, is scheduled for theatrical release on December 18, 2026.
