The film ‘Primetime’, directed by Lance Oppenheim and produced by A24, will be presented in competition at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. Starring Robert Pattinson, the production explores the rise of journalist Chris Hansen and the cultural impact of the television format ‘To Catch a Predator’.
Set primarily around 2006, the film examines the intersection of journalism, justice, and entertainment as Hansen’s undercover operations against alleged predators became a national phenomenon. The narrative focuses on the blurred lines between news reporting and television voyeurism, reflecting on the power of media and the consequences of such massive success.
The cast includes Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, and Phoebe Bridgers. Following its festival presentation, the film is scheduled for theatrical release in Italian cinemas on October 15, 2026, distributed by I Wonder Pictures.
