Robert Pattinson doubts Batman crossover with James Gunn's DCU

Robert Pattinson has expressed doubts regarding the possibility of integrating his version of Batman into the new DC Universe (DCU) led by James Gunn. In recent interviews, the actor noted that his portrayal of Bruce Wayne, developed within Matt Reeves’ standalone psychological crime noir, possesses a specific tone and style that would be “tough” to reconcile with the broader, potentially lighter cinematic universe.

Pattinson highlighted the intense nature of the production, stating that the dark atmosphere and lighting conditions of the films can be deeply affecting, noting, “the tone of it gets inside you.” He described the experience of filming in near-constant darkness as something that can leave an actor feeling strange for months afterward.

While Gunn’s DCU continues to expand with projects like Superman, Pattinson’s Batman remains part of a separate continuity. The actor is set to reprise his role in “The Batman: Part II,” which is currently in development and scheduled for release on February 18, 2028.
