Robert Picardo claims Star Trek series was cancelled following political criticism

Actor Robert Picardo has alleged that the Paramount+ series ‘Starfleet Academy’ was ‘killed in the cradle’ following online criticism from Elon Musk and Trump aide Stephen Miller.

While a second season is scheduled to air next year, Paramount+ has announced the show will not return after that installment. The series, which stars Holly Hunter and features Picardo as the Emergency Medical Hologram, faced social media backlash labeled as ‘woke.’ Miller described a clip from the show as ‘tragic,’ while Musk commented on a video featuring characters wearing glasses.

In an interview with The Guardian, Picardo questioned if the cancellation was a coincidence following the high-profile criticism. He defended the show’s inclusion of diversity, such as a gay Klingon, stating that the core values of Star Trek—science, diversity, and inclusion—are currently under attack.
