Robert Plant celebrates 78th birthday

Robert Plant, the British vocalist of Led Zeppelin, celebrates his 78th birthday on August 20. Plant joined the band in 1968 alongside Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham, helping to define the hard rock genre through eight studio albums.

His career with Led Zeppelin was marked by both massive success and personal tragedy, including a serious car accident in 1975 and the death of his son, Karac, in 1977. Following the death of drummer John Bonham in 1980, the band officially disbanded, leading Plant to pursue a solo career exploring rock, blues, and folk. His solo work includes the Grammy-winning collaboration with Alison Krauss, ‘Raising Sand’.

Other musical milestones observed on this date include the 79th birthdays of James Pankow and Ralf Hütter, the 56th birthday of Fred Durst, and the 34th birthday of Demi Lovato. Additionally, the Rolling Stones' single ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’ marks 61 years since its release.
