Robert Plant loses to teenager in surprise chess match
Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant made a surprise appearance at a youth charity chess tournament in Bewdley, Worcestershire. During the event, Plant played a match against 17-year-old George Walker.
Walker won the game by default after Plant ran out of time and had to depart the venue. Walker, a fan of the singer, noted that he did not initially recognize Plant but was shocked upon discovering his opponent's identity.
John Wrench, president of the Kidderminster Chess Club, stated that the singer's presence added prestige to the tournament. Wrench added that while Plant may need more practice, he believes the musician has the potential to be good at the game.
