Speaking on WEEI, Spillane noted that the remark “irritated” him and made him “feel sad” for Brady, given the legendary player's 20-year history with the franchise and his contributions to the community. Spillane characterized the sentiment as his personal opinion, noting that other players in the locker room held various views.

Patriots coach Mike Vrabel addressed the situation with a pragmatic perspective, noting that Brady has moved on to the Las Vegas Raiders. Vrabel also acknowledged potential professional connections, such as the Raiders' interest in hiring Seattle offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak as head coach.
