Robert Virves fuels Škoda Rally2 surge with wins in Kenya and Greece

Estonian driver Robert Virves captured two 2026 WRC2 victories on Škoda Rally2 cars, triumphing at the Safari Rally in Kenya and the Acropolis Rally in Greece. Both events featured demanding gravel stages, prompting Toyota deputy team principal Juha Kankkunen to note that the rough conditions suit Škoda, and veteran driver Andreas Mikkelsen praised the Fabia RS’s performance.

Virves highlighted the car’s reliability, saying he never had a reason to complain about it, and credited the package for his success. The wins give him a strong footing in the fight for the 2026 WRC2 drivers' title as the championship progresses toward upcoming gravel rallies in Estonia and Finland. So far, Škoda has dominated the two rough‑terrain events, while Stellantis‑owned Lancia secured all four tarmac rallies and Toyota claimed victories in Sweden and Portugal, with driver Roope Korhonen currently leading the standings before dropped points are applied.
