Robert Virves secures WRC2 World Championship title
Robert Virves has secured the WRC2 World Championship title ahead of the season finale in Sardinia. Driving a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 for Toksport WRT, Virves has achieved four victories this season in Kenya, Greece, Estonia, and Finland, along with a second-place finish in Chile.
The upcoming Rally Italia Sardegna, scheduled for October 1–4, will serve as the final stage of the season. While the championship is already decided, Virves aims to secure a fifth stage win and a strong points finish. The battle for second place in the overall standings remains highly competitive between Roope Korhonen and Teemu Suninen.
In the premier WRC category, discussions surround title contenders Elfyn Evans, Sami Pajari, and Oliver Solberg. Analysts suggest that starting positions may play a critical role due to the challenging nature of the Sardinian roads, potentially favoring drivers starting further back in the order, such as Sébastien Ogier and Thierry Neuville.
