Roberta Rodrigues stars in legal drama Verônika com K

The Globoplay original series ‘Verônika com K’ is set to premiere on October 22. Created by José Junior and directed by Silvio Guindane, the eight-episode legal-police drama follows Verônika, an ambitious and confident lawyer played by Roberta Rodrigues.

Verônika, who grew up in the Morro de São Jerônimo community, built a successful career alongside her mentor, Orestes Schneider. The plot intensifies when Schneider is arrested for corruption, leaving Verônika to face professional isolation. She eventually faces a moral dilemma when asked to defend a local crime boss, leading to a high-stakes confrontation with prosecutor André Franco, played by Marcelo Serrado.

During a launch event in Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigues described the series as ‘revolutionary’ for its representation, noting that it places Black characters in prominent, powerful roles rarely seen in Brazilian audiovisual productions. She emphasized that the story explores diverse female experiences, including single motherhood and family leadership, while highlighting themes of human relationships, strength, and vulnerability.
