Roberto Blanco softens criticism of German Schlager shows
Singer Roberto Blanco has softened his previous criticisms regarding German Schlager television shows, such as Florian Silbereisen’s ‘Schlagerboom’. In the past, the 89-year-old artist criticized these programs for repetitive guest lists and inadequate compensation for performers.
In a recent interview with the ‘Abendzeitung’, Blanco moderated his stance, stating, ‘It is none of my business. There are many artists and singers in the shows who are really good.’ Despite this conciliatory tone, he noted that he still finds little connection to current formats, remarking that the show business industry is no longer what it once was during his era.
Blanco, who hosted his own shows in the 1970s and 1980s and was a regular on the ‘ZDF-Hitparade’, suggested that if he were to return to hosting, he would utilize concepts from his own era, believing such formats could still attract significant audiences today.
