Roberto Carlos reveals loss of 99% of career wealth

Brazilian football legend Roberto Carlos revealed at the Portugal Football Summit that he has lost approximately 99 percent of his career earnings, estimated at 160 million euros. The 53-year-old former Real Madrid and Brazil defender attributed the sudden financial collapse to issues with a former agent and serious family problems.

Carlos described the shock of discovering his situation, noting that he went to sleep on a Thursday night and woke up on Friday to a stack of documents revealing he had been “emptied” of his wealth. He expressed deep regret over the mistakes made and used the platform to warn younger players about the importance of professional financial management and planning for life after football.

Despite the loss, Carlos noted that he had attempted to prepare for retirement by obtaining a sports director license and working with various brands. He is currently working to restructure his personal and financial life.
