Roberto Castro accused of nepotism in Chamber of Deputies

Deputy Sandra Rivero of the Christian Democratic Party (PDC) has accused the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Roberto Castro, of nepotism and the misuse of institutional assets. Rivero alleged that Castro’s family members, including his brother Alejandro Castro, used official credentials and reserved elevators and offices within the Legislative Assembly for their own use.

Furthermore, Rivero claimed that Alejandro Castro was involved in recruitment efforts for both the Assembly and other institutions. The deputy also reported the existence of an unauthorized unit operating on the 16th floor of the Assembly, which she alleged was created to benefit Castro’s associates, referred to as ‘pinky amigos’.

Additional allegations include the misuse of institutional vehicles and reports of irregular fees being collected from workers, purportedly to fund the Christian Democratic Party. Due to these ethical and management concerns, Rivero stated she would not support a reelection of Roberto Castro.
