Amazonas Governor Roberto Cidade Confirms Vice Serafim Corrêa and Launches State TEA Secretariat

Governor Roberto Cidade of Amazonas confirmed that current vice‑governor Serafim Corrêa (PSB) will remain his running mate in the 2026 re‑election bid, stressing the partnership’s experience, technical expertise and commitment to the state’s development. Cidade highlighted Corrêa’s background as a federal tax auditor, economist, lawyer and former mayor of Manaus, describing him as “the best vice‑governor in Brazil.”

In the same set of announcements, Cidade unveiled a new Secretaria Estadual da Causa TEA to coordinate all public policies for people with autism spectrum disorder (TEA) and their families. The plan includes a R$ 500 monthly aid for parents of autistic children, expansion of specialized CAIC TEA centers in Manaus and interior municipalities, and construction of the Complexo TEA Amazonas – a multidisciplinary care facility and adapted park intended to become the largest autism‑focused public complex in Brazil’s North and Northeast regions. Official data show 43,983 residents of Amazonas (about 1.1% of the state population) have a TEA diagnosis, underscoring the need for dedicated services.
