Roberto De la Cruz becomes rector of Unibol Aymara

Roberto De la Cruz has been inaugurated as the new rector of the Bolivian Indigenous Aymara University ‘Tupak Katari’ (Unibol). The appointment ceremony was led by Education Minister Erick Sanjinés and formalized through a resolution signed by President Rodrigo Paz.

De la Cruz, a former leader from El Alto and participant in the 2003 mobilizations, stated that the university is currently in a state of ‘intensive care.’ He announced plans for an institutional refoundation aimed at strengthening operations and expanding the academic curriculum. His goals include transforming the university into an academic pillar for Aymara communities by introducing new careers and fostering professional training linked to regional productive development.

Unibol Aymara is headquartered in Warisata with sub-campuses in Cuyahuani, Taipiplaya, and La Asunta. The institution currently offers programs in agronomic engineering, food industry engineering, textile engineering, forestry engineering, and veterinary medicine and zootechnics.
