Roberto Fulcar vindicated after accuser admits to false claims

Former Minister of Education Roberto Fulcar has addressed the resolution of a four-year legal dispute following a court admission by Angel Martínez regarding false accusations. Martínez appeared before a court to acknowledge the falsity of his previous claims against Fulcar and issued a public apology to the former official and his family for the moral damage caused by a campaign of discredit.

Fulcar noted that after leaving his post in August 2022, he voluntarily approached the Chamber of Accounts to submit documentation and request a formal audit rather than engaging in media debates. He emphasized that he chose to defend himself through legal institutions, stating that “the truth does not need to shout to exist.”

Reflecting on the process, Fulcar expressed relief that his honorability has been vindicated. He used the occasion to urge social responsibility regarding the use of language, warning that irresponsible words can destroy reputations and families, while noting that he holds no resentment toward those who judged him without knowing the facts.
