Roberto Álvarez joins Stimson Center Advisory Council

Roberto Álvarez, the former Foreign Minister of the Dominican Republic, has been appointed to the Advisory Council of the Latin America Program at the Stimson Center. The Washington, D.C.-based institution focuses on public policy research and international security.

Álvarez joins the council alongside Peruvian businessman Roque Benavides and former Ecuadorian minister Iván Ontaneda. The new members bring expertise in diplomacy, democratic governance, international trade, and economic development to the role.

In a statement, Álvarez expressed that the appointment is an opportunity to contribute to the analysis of challenges facing Latin America and the Caribbean. He emphasized the importance of promoting constructive dialogue to strengthen relations between the United States and the region based on mutual respect and shared interests.
