Roberto Mancini addresses Manchester City financial allegations

Roberto Mancini, the current manager of the Italian national team, has addressed allegations regarding a purported “double contract” during his tenure at Manchester City between 2009 and 2013. Speaking ahead of a Nations League match against Turkey, Mancini stated that the matter “is not a problem that concerns me” and maintained that Manchester City is not guilty of the financial breaches currently being investigated by the Premier League.

The allegations, which surfaced following reports by Der Spiegel, suggest Mancini received additional payments through a consultancy role with the Abu Dhabi-based club Al Jazira while employed by City. This comes as an independent panel has reportedly found Manchester City guilty of the vast majority of 115 alleged financial rule violations. Mancini emphasized that the issue is not new and has been discussed periodically for several years.

In separate sporting news, the Italian national team secured a 4-1 victory over Turkey in the Nations League, with goals from Bastoni, Frattesi, and Caytonede. Additionally, former Italian captain Dino Zoff expressed confidence in Mancini’s ability to lead the team through its current transitional period, noting that the team’s situation can only improve from its current state.
