Roberto Menescal celebrates upcoming 90th birthday with remix album

Bossa nova composer and producer Roberto Menescal is releasing a remix album titled ‘Pure Bossa Remixes’ to anticipate his 90th birthday celebrations in November 2027. Produced by Béco Dranoff and Patty Ascher, the project features six of Menescal's songs reimagined by various international DJs.

The album includes interpretations by artists such as Marlboro, Gui Boratto, Tata Ogan, Diogo Strausz, Nicola Conte, and DJ Spinna. These remixes blend Menescal's classic melodies with genres including electronic, house, jazz, soul, funk, afro house, and drum’n’bass.

Menescal, a foundational figure of the bossa nova movement alongside peers like Tom Jobim and João Gilberto, expressed surprise at the creativity of the reinterpretations. The album, released via Universal Music, aims to introduce his work to new generations and broader global audiences.
