Robert Moreno appointed interim manager of South Korea football team
Robert Moreno has been appointed as the interim manager of the South Korea men’s national football team. The appointment, approved by the Korea Football Association (KFA) during a recent board meeting, marks the first time a Spanish coach has led the squad.
Moreno, 48, will lead the team through six A-match fixtures scheduled between September and November 27. His tenure is currently subject to evaluation; the KFA has included a clause in his contract that allows for a potential extension through the 2027 Asian Cup based on his performance during this period.
Moreno, who previously served as an assistant at FC Barcelona and briefly managed the Spanish national team, will be accompanied by a six-person coaching staff, all of Spanish nationality. In his first public remarks, Moreno expressed that while he cannot guarantee specific results, he promises “effort, honesty, and respect,” stating that his team’s message will be delivered on the pitch.
