Roberto Tobia to present Italian pharmacy model at World Congress in Canada

Roberto Tobia, a representative of Federfarma, will represent Italy at the 84th World Congress of Pharmacy held in Montreal, Canada. The international event brings together representatives from 160 countries to discuss global health challenges and the evolution of pharmacy as a local healthcare provider.

Tobia is set to present the Italian “pharmacy of services” model, which integrates community pharmacies into the National Health Service. This model emphasizes pharmacy as a proximity healthcare hub, offering services such as telemedicine, vaccinations, screenings, and chronic disease management.

According to Tobia, recent Italian legislation, including the 2025 Simplification Law and the 2026 Stability Law, has structurally reinforced the role of pharmacies. He aims to highlight how the Italian system prioritizes universal health and citizen well-being over purely commercial interests, particularly through the synergy between pharmacies, general practitioners, and pediatricians.
