Roberto Vannacci announces opposition to antisemitism bill

Roberto Vannacci and the Futuro Nazionale movement have sparked debate regarding several legislative and social issues in Italy. Vannacci announced that his group intends to vote against a proposed bill on antisemitism in the Italian Parliament. He stated that the opposition is not directed at Jewish people, but rather against the principle that offending a Jewish person should be treated with greater severity than offending a Christian, Muslim, or Buddhist.

Additionally, Vannacci addressed the situation in Ukraine, citing an incident involving Ukrainian journalist Iuliia Mendel. Mendel, who was previously a spokesperson for President Volodymyr Zelensky, was reportedly prevented from entering a building in Strasbourg for an event organized by AfD MEPs, an action she attributed to sanctions imposed by Zelensky. Vannacci characterized this as an example of the “dictatorship of European technocracy.”

On the cultural front, Vannacci has proposed limiting the broadcast of content related to gender identity and homosexuality on television between 6:00 PM and 11:00 PM to protect minors. This stance drew a sharp response from entertainer Cristiano Malgioglio, who dismissed the comments as provocations and rejected the idea that LGBTQ+ content should be restricted to late-night hours.
