Roberto Vannacci launches Futuro Nazionale in Italy's Chamber of Deputies
Former army general Roberto Vannacci made his first appearance in the Italian Chamber of Deputies by entering through a side door and holding a press conference on migration. He presented his new political formation, Futuro Nazionale, and said its role is to act as a “sestante” – a steering force – to bring the centre‑right coalition back onto the right course. Vannacci emphasized that the movement will not trade votes for positions and denied any talks with Beppe Grillo. He was accompanied in Parliament by Edoardo Ziello and Rossano Sasso, described as the group’s parliamentary “sentinels”. A few weeks later Vannacci announced that four deputies – Domenico Furgiuele, Gianangelo Bof, Attilio Pierro, Davide Bergamini – and former MEP Antonio Maria Rinaldi had joined Futuro Nazionale, reshaping the internal balance of the centre‑right bloc. The press conference also touched on the broader immigration debate, referencing the recent influx of migrants in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta and the response of Spain’s government.
