Roberto Vannacci Surges in Italian Polls Amid Controversial LGBTQ Remarks
A recent Swg poll for TG La7 shows Roberto Vannacci’s Futuro Nazionale gaining ground, reaching 5.3% of voter intentions—up half a point in a week and closing on Matteo Salvini’s Lega, which slipped to 5.0%. The center‑right bloc saw modest shifts, with Fratelli d’Italia at 27.9%, Forza Italia at 7.2% and the Democratic Party at 22.1%.
Vannacci has also sparked debate by stating that gay “have all the rights” in Italy. Critics argue the slogan is misleading and has been co‑opted by homophobic opponents, contending it obscures ongoing discrimination faced by LGBTQIA+ people and undermines their demand for equal marriage, parenthood and anti‑trans‑phobia protections.
