Roberto Vannacci's political rise sparks controversy in Italy

Former Chamber president Pier Ferdinando Casini warned parties to “avoid giving him electoral campaign space,” saying Vannacci could siphon votes from the right‑wing Lega and appeal to disillusioned voters on the left, such as those from the Five Star Movement.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni dismissed the idea of an alliance with Vannacci, questioning his proposals to reduce the foreign‑born population to 4 percent and highlighting the practical need for migrant labour in Italy’s economy.
