Roberto Viti and Roberto Cogrossi, notable Italians, pass away

Italian pizza maker Roberto Viti died at the Fabrizio Spaziani hospital in Frosinone at the age of 80, days after celebrating his 80th birthday. Viti ran the historic Pizzeria Ricci from 1975 and later opened the Chicco di Grano restaurant, becoming a beloved figure for his classic margherita and capricciosa pizzas and for supplying snacks to local schools and offices.

Roberto Cogrossi, also 80, passed away in the VCO region. A longtime trade‑union activist, Cogrossi was a senior member of the CGIL and FIOM in the Verbano‑Cusio‑Ossola area, serving as vice‑secretary of the CGIL VCO and leading early strikes at the Lagostina plant. He was remembered for his lifelong commitment to workers’ rights and for his role in shaping the local labour movement.
