Robin Gosens to join Schalke 04 on loan with purchase obligation

German left‑back Robin Gosens, 32, has been excluded from ACF Fiorentina's preseason squad and is set to leave the club. The two sides have reached an agreement for a season‑long loan to Schalke 04 that includes an obligatory buy‑out of €2.5 million, triggered if the German team remains in the Bundesliga at season's end. The move allows Fiorentina to reduce its wage bill, while Schalke fulfills a long‑standing interest in the player, who grew up supporting the club.

Gosens spent two seasons in Florence, appearing in 77 matches and scoring 12 goals. The transfer ends his stint in Serie A and returns him to Germany, where he will undergo medical examinations before signing the contract.
