Robinhood Chain sees surge in meme coin and tokenized stock trading

The Robinhood Chain is experiencing a surge in activity, driven largely by meme coin trading and tokenized stocks. On September 4, meme coin trading volume reached approximately $1.838 billion, with the Robinhood Chain accounting for 79.9% of that total. This represents a significant increase from previous periods, though much of this volume is driven by external crypto-native users rather than Robinhood's own app users, who reportedly account for only 1% to 2% of the chain's daily decentralized exchange (DEX) volume.

In addition to meme coins, the market for tokenized stocks has reached record highs, with weekly spot trading volumes approaching $3 billion. While most activity currently focuses on 24/7 trading and cross-border access, there is growing potential for these assets to be used in on-chain finance for lending and collateral. Currently, only about 5% of tokenized stocks are utilized for such financial utility.

The high volatility of meme coins on the network has also led to significant fee generation. Daily app fees reached approximately $16.98 million, a figure that analysts suggest disproportionately benefits liquidity providers. Furthermore, new trading pairs combining meme coins with tokenized stocks, such as AI/NVDA, are emerging as new sources of fee revenue.
