Robinhood expands crypto products in Europe as JPMorgan pushes US crypto bill reforms
Robinhood announced the launch of leveraged perpetual futures on commodities, ETFs and currencies for eligible European users, offering up to 10‑times leverage on assets such as gold, silver, crude oil and the euro‑dollar rate. The rollout coincides with the rollout of AI‑powered trading accounts, a decentralized lending product that yields 7% on USDG stablecoins, and the creation of Robinhood’s own blockchain. The firm also secured a capital‑markets services licence for its Singapore entity and plans to introduce crypto services in the United Kingdom.
At the same time, JPMorgan Chase backed the U.S. Senate’s CLARITY Act – a comprehensive crypto‑regulation proposal – while openly opposing a provision that would allow stablecoins to pay yields. Bank executives warned that interest‑bearing stablecoins could function as un‑insured deposits, creating “shadow banking” risks that could destabilize the financial system in a market‑stress scenario. The bank’s stance reflects broader Wall Street concerns as legislators move toward a floor vote on the bill.
