Robinhood's New Layer‑2 Blockchain Gains $50 Million TVL After Launch
Robinhood introduced Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum‑compatible Layer 2 network built on Arbitrum that supports tokenized real‑world assets such as stocks, ETFs, stablecoins and other financial instruments. The blockchain is designed for 24/7 trading and is available to eligible users in more than 120 countries, expanding the brokerage’s services beyond its traditional U.S. retail base. The launch was accompanied by new AI‑powered tools, a decentralized lending product called Robinhood Earn, and plans for further international expansion.
Within days of the public mainnet debut, Robinhood Chain’s total value locked rose above $50 million, driven by tokenized stock liquidity and early participation from DeFi protocols including Uniswap, Chainlink, BitGo, Morpho and Spark. The network’s fast transaction times and AI‑native features are intended to attract developers and traders, while regulators in multiple jurisdictions are expected to scrutinise the 24/7 tokenized‑stock offering.
