Roblox developer partners with Pokémon director for new universe

Tetsuo Yajima, a director known for Pokémon films such as "Pokémon: The Power of Everyone" and "Pokémon: Secrets of the Jungle," has joined forces with Studio Mayflower to develop a new universe on the Roblox platform.

The project, titled Monster Battles, is a free experience available on Roblox where players capture creatures, build teams, and engage in strategic turn-based combat. While the mechanics are reminiscent of creature-capture genres, the developers aim to establish a unique identity for the game.

Studio Mayflower intends for Monster Battles to evolve into a broad multimedia franchise. If successful, the studio plans to expand the intellectual property into animation series, merchandising, and other entertainment media, noting that the most popular game mode is already slated for a film adaptation.
