Roblox introduces AI tools for mobile game creation and standalone app publishing

At the Roblox Developers Conference 2026, Roblox announced a strategic shift toward becoming a comprehensive game engine by integrating advanced artificial intelligence tools. A primary feature is 'Build,' an AI-driven tool that enables users to create 3D game environments and mechanics through simple text descriptions directly from mobile devices. Following a successful pilot in New Zealand that resulted in 9,000 published games, testing for 'Build' is expanding to Singapore and Serbia.

Further technical advancements include 'Scene Generator,' which uses text and reference images to create 3D scenarios, and 'AI Test NPCs' designed to automate quality assurance by simulating player behavior to find bugs. Roblox also announced a major change to its distribution model: developers will soon be able to publish their creations as standalone applications on PC, mobile, and consoles, moving beyond the platform's closed ecosystem.

To support its creator economy, which distributed $1.7 billion in the last 12 months, Roblox is partnering with Airwallex to launch 'Roblox Wallet' for faster fiat currency payouts. The company also plans to introduce 'Roblox Card' next year, allowing creators to spend their earnings in the physical world.
