Roblox launches AI-powered Build tool for mobile game creation
Roblox is introducing Build, an AI‑driven feature that lets users generate playable games on their phones by typing brief text descriptions. The system combines open‑source and proprietary AI models to create characters, environments, sound effects and gameplay mechanics, and it integrates with Roblox Studio for further editing.
Testing of Build begins on 28 July 2026 in New Zealand as a public alpha. The tool is free for basic use and open to age‑verified users aged nine and older; games intended for players under 16 must pass additional safety checks. Optional paid upgrades will offer extra capabilities. Build also includes supplementary AI utilities for automated bug detection, performance insights and suggestions to improve player retention, as well as a future tool to generate full 3D scenes from text prompts.
Roblox plans to roll the feature out to additional countries in the following months, aiming to make game development more accessible to its 132 million daily active users.
