Roblox faces allegations of unauthorized data scraping
Roblox is facing serious allegations regarding the unauthorized collection of 145.5 GB of 3D models. According to reports from the operators of Open3DLab, SFMLab, and SmutBase, an automated web crawler—suspected to be linked to Roblox—downloaded massive amounts of data from their platforms over a 34-hour period in mid-October 2026.
The data collection is particularly controversial because it includes 62.6 GB of adult-oriented content. The platform operators suggest that this material may have been harvested to serve as training data for generative artificial intelligence models. While the requests originated from an Amazon Web Services cloud infrastructure IP address, independent confirmation of Roblox’s direct involvement in the scraping activity has not yet been established.
