Roblox platform safety concerns grow among Kosovo children
Roblox, a digital platform used by millions of children worldwide, has become especially popular in Kosovo. Local educators and parents warn that the game’s open‑ended virtual environment may harm children’s psychological and social development.
Jeton Brajshori of the Kritikos institute stresses that “Jo çdo lojtar është shok, mbroje veten online,” urging parents to recognise risks that exist beyond the home. He also cites a U.S.‑based group called “764” that allegedly promotes dangerous content and encourages self‑harm for virtual rewards.
Parents report privacy intrusions; Ilir Tahiri says his son was asked for live photos and personal details such as name, address and phone number. Teachers note increased arrogance, distraction, anxiety, lower academic performance and even violence among students who spend hours on Roblox.
The initiative calls for greater parental monitoring and communication, arguing that the platform offers no educational benefit and may instead foster negative behaviour.
