Roblox platform shows high risk of child grooming in Italy, report says
A 2025 report by the anti‑pedophile association Meter, presented to the Italian Parliament, warns that the Roblox gaming platform poses a serious grooming risk for minors. Roblox boasts over 100 million daily active users worldwide and more than one million in Italy. The study found that 70 % of Italian users under the age of 18 reported a attempted approach by an adult, meaning roughly 700 000 children are potentially exposed.
Don Fortunato Di Noto, Meter’s president, said, “When important educational, relational and social safeguards are missing, many youngsters spend increasing hours online without adequate adult accompaniment, creating vulnerable situations.” The report also highlighted the lack of parental controls: many families do not activate chat filters or restrict who their children can play with, allowing strangers, sometimes adults over 30, to request photos and personal contacts.
Meter’s monitoring recorded 785 072 images and 1.7 million videos of real child abuse, alongside 8 213 minors whose likenesses were manipulated by AI deep‑nude tools. In response, the association issued a guide called “E‑state responsabili,” offering ten recommendations for families, the chief one being “do not leave children alone on the internet.”
